The work on Lockwood Ridge Road between 27th Parkway and Gocio Road is continuing however, it is a fill in job at this point. When the Public Works crews get some time they work on it.

Lockwood Ridge Road has been designated as a gateway road. This means that the medians and road easements will have planned county landscaping. According to the head of Public works there will be three tier landscaping.

We are working with Public Works to get FPL and FEMA to cleanup the tree debris they left in the FPL easements between Monica and Randa and also Randa and Lockwood Ridge Road.

Public Works is also with working Building Code Enforcement to remove the cars and people living in the chain link fence area just off of Lockwood Ridge Road adjacent to the FPL easement. This is a designated water containment area for run off water.

May 20th is the next Keep Sarasota County Beautiful cleanup in Kensington Park. We will be cleaning Monica Parkway from Lockwood Ridge to Prudence Drive and Prudence Drive to Gocio Road. For Monica we meet in the parking lot of the plaza at the Monica entrance. For Prudence we meet at the corner of Gocio Road in the church parking lot. All supplies are furnished. We start at 8am and are usually finished by 11am if you would like to join us you can register at -

We have been working with FPL since September of 2022 when Hurricane Ian came through to get the lights back on at the Andrea entrance. There was a pole snapped in half that supplied the power to the meter. FPL cut the power to the pole and eventually removed the pole but has continued to send estimated bills for crazy large amounts. Needless to say we are still trying to get it worked out. FPL's latest attempt to correct the situation is to replace the meter. We will hope that works!

AS A REMINDER THE 2023 MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE NOW DUE AND HAVE BEEN RAISED TO $35. The Fundraiser for the plants is ongoing so we have to use as little of the dues to pay for plants as possible. You can include the donation for the plants with your dues. We will not be planting until the drought let up and the rainy season begins. We do not want to invest hundreds of dollars only to loose to plants to heat and drought.
